The movie stars Tom Hanks as Walt Disney and Emma Thompson as P.L. Travers., she is the creator and writer of the Mary Poppins books, and I didn't know there were any books about her.
It takes place in 1961 and drifts back to the early 1900's of Mrs. Travers childhood.
The story is about the trouble she had with her father. who was her hero to her. You don't see much about her other sister or the baby and little bit about her mom,( spoiler alert) who tried to kill herself.
The dad is a drunk and his oldest daughter looks up to him and he tries to make everybody happy.
In the movie Mrs. Travers has a problem with everything and doesn't like cartoons or musical and Mr. Disney has to change her mind in the process. The Disney people try everything to make her happy with song and dance, and she doesn't like it. She wants everything her way, until they hit a spark and Mr. Disney find out how and why.
We really don't know what goes on behind the curtain and how the process on making a movie. It took them almost 5 years to make Mary Poppins and it won Oscar for best picture, best actress and best original song.
This movie deserve to be nominated for Best Picture during Oscar season. wonderful, funny and delightful for all ages.
